Harry and Meghan's video diaries baffle viewers as make-up free Duchess appears in towel

Harry and Meghan's explosive documentary finally dropped on Netflix today after months of anticipation and speculation, but fans were left confused by the first scenes featuring the couple's video diaries.

First up had been the Duke of Sussex, who was speaking from the Windsor Suite in London's Heathrow Airport in March 2020.

"Hi, so we're here on... er, Tues - Wednesday the something of March that we've just finished our two weeks," he says. "It's our last stint, our final push of royal engagements. It's really hard to look back on it now and go 'What on earth happened? How did we end up here?'"

While another video shows a short clip of the gorgeous Vancouver countryside before Meghan is seen make-up free and hair in a towel as she speaks to her camera phone: "H is in London and I'm here."

Sighing, she shakes her head and says: "I don't know where to begin."

"My job is to keep my family safe," Harry continues. "But the nature of being born into this position and everything that comes with it and the level of hate that has been stirred up in the past few years, especially against my wife and my son, I'm genuinely concerned for the safety of my family."

Meghan adds tearfully: "I just want to get to the other side of all of this... I don't know what to say anymore."

It is later explained that they had both decided to record their thoughts and feelings at the time after a friend had advised them to, though viewers were a little perplexed.

One tweeted: "Who records themselves having these deep discussions? It seems so set up and planned for a tv special. Ridiculous and sad #HarryandMeghanNetflix."

While another joked: "They clearly knew they were going to use these selfie videos for a documentary = they could’ve turned their phones landscape! #HarryandMeghanNetflix."

A third wrote: "Starting #HarryandMeghanNetflix. Wild that they documented the whole transition and wild that they are making their "private archive" public like this, but how p***ed do you think the documentarian was when they realized H & M filmed all their video diaries portrait-style."

"Ok, so they have been taking videos on this since 2020. Everything planned. #HarryandMeghanNetflix," another insisted.

It comes after fans were baffled after footage of Katie Price's court arrival was used in the trailer.

"I didn't want history to repeat itself," Harry says as a short clip of himself and Meghan is shown walking amongst a crowd. Soon afterwards, cameramen are seen flocking to take pictures.

However, the frames actually came from paps waiting for Katie Price outside Crawley Magistrates Court in December last year.

While another promo showed a line-up of photographers at a Harry Potter premier.

Prior to the release, no press previews were available and the trailer was the first glimpse at footage used in the series.

Prince Harry opens up about life as a royal (Netflix/Youtube)

The Royal Family have been warned to brace themselves for their worst nightmare yet, with the Prince of Wales said to have had crisis talks with his father King Charles over the show.

One source in contact with a Netflix production insider told the Mirror: “I genuinely think it’s going to be worse than the royals can imagine.

“I’m told that it’s going to be utterly explosive and will be very damaging.”

It comes after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were said to have "betrayed the agreement they made with the Queen", according to royal sources.

The couple are believed to have not honoured an agreement made with the late monarch at Sandringham back in January 2020, which was reached shortly before they moved to the United States.

Following the meeting, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex pledged that “everything they do" would "continue to uphold the values of Her Majesty”.

A Palace statement released on behalf of the late Queen at the time also read: “Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved members of my family."

However, their loyalty to the Queen and her legacy has been questioned following their string of high-profile attacks on The Firm, including their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey last year.

During the explosive interview last year, Meghan made a number of shocking bombshell claims including that she was suicidal during her time in the royal family, accusing her in-laws of being concerned about how dark Archie's skin would be and claiming the Duchess of Cambridge made her cry.

It has been feared that Meghan and Kate Middleton will be "pitted against each other" in the documentary after the trailer showed the Sussexes claiming the Palace and the press treated them "differently" to the Prince and Princess of Wales..

The two couples shared a team of staff for much of the Sussexes' time in Britain before leaving for the US in 2020.

The docu-series will reportedly compare how Meghan and Kate were treated as well as how they were portrayed by the media, as insiders say the two women will be 'placed side by side' in the documentary in an attempt to back up the Sussexes' claim they had no choice but to quit royal life.

"Here we go again," one royal source told The Telegraph, as members and aides say they find the idea of the documentary "very wearying".

Allies of the Sussexes stressed previously there would be no major bombshells about the royal family in the production and claimed it was not intended to blame anyone.
