Prince Harry and Prince Andrew are discovering they "won't get what they want" under King Charles' reign, a royal historian has claimed.
It has been said that Harry and Meghan have been left "stunned" by Charles' decision to evict them from Frogmore Cottage, with the couple thought to be arranging for their remaining belongings to be shipped to California.
The couple has reportedly been asked to make way from the five-bedroom property for Andrew, who currently resides at the 30-bedroom Royal Lodge in Windsor.
It is thought the King wants his scandal-hit younger brother to downsize to a smaller property - although Andrew is "resisting".
And according to royal historian and expert Dr Tessa Dunlop, the situation appears to show how Charles is putting his foot down as monarch.
She told the Mirror: "If rumours are correct Harry and Meghan are to relinquish Frogmore Cottage. It's suggested that disgraced Prince Andrew might controversially downsize into his nephew's former home. The truth is we don't yet know the details.
"And there is more at stake here than just a historic UK residence for the Montecito couple.
"Situated within Windsor Great Park as part of the Crown Estate, Frogmore Cottage has security benefits that have otherwise been removed from the Sussexes when they visit Britain. That really matters to a couple who are currently suing the Home Office over rescinded police protection measures.
"Even Prince Andrew, the alleged future recipient of Frogmore Cottage, isn't happy: he wants to stay put in the (gigantic) Royal Lodge.
"But under the reign of King Charles, errant Princes are discovering they don't always get want they want."
Meanwhile, Tessa explained that for Harry and Meghan, Frogmore Cottage proved to be controversial from the start for the couple - and wonders how they will feel about having to pay back £2.4million for its renovations.
She added: "What we do know is that Harry and Meghan were fond of that cottage. Offered to them by Her Majesty as a wedding gift, the Prince assured the late Queen Frogmore Cottage would be a 'dream come true'.

"True, it was Frogmore House the far grander, larger affair that Harry initially thought his grandmother was suggesting; after all the Queen Charlotte mansion had been the backdrop for their wedding photographs.
"But they were reassured by the Queen - the cottage although tumble-down was hidden, historic and part of the Crown Estate… what could possibly go wrong?
"Where to start? There were controversial renovations. According to Harry, these were basic: 'to make the place habitable – piping, heating, water'.
"But costs wracked up and, initially paid for by the Sovereign Grant, were soon the centre of a media storm. The couple converted the Grade-II listed cottage into a spacious five-bed home complete with two orangeries, a veg garden and a yoga studio.
"Quite a loss if the property really is withdrawn from Harry and Meghan but one that would save them money. Since leaving Britain they've paid commercial rent to retain the initially gifted cottage.
"Their departure from Frogmore Cottage also begs the question: will the Sussexes recoup any of the £2.4m renovation costs they paid back in the wake of their exit from royal life?"
