The mayor of Allentown, Pennsylvania, emphasized the significance of the Harris-Walz campaign's ground game in the crucial battleground state. He stated that the campaign's efforts in Pennsylvania could be the determining factor in this election cycle, suggesting that they are surpassing the GOP in their outreach.
Mayor Matthew Tuerk highlighted the extensive door-knocking activities undertaken by the campaign, with nearly a million doors knocked on in Pennsylvania over the past two days. He personally witnessed hundreds of volunteers from various locations engaging in door-to-door canvassing in Allentown and other parts of the state, including the route from Allentown to Philadelphia.
Tuerk expressed concern over comedian Tony Hinchcliffe's derogatory remarks about Puerto Rico during a recent rally, particularly noting the potential impact on voters in Allentown, which has a significant Puerto Rican population. He suggested that such comments could serve as a motivating factor for voters to participate in the election.
While acknowledging the campaign's extensive outreach efforts, Tuerk mentioned that voters in Allentown have been eager to hear directly from Harris, as she had previously traveled across Pennsylvania without visiting the city. However, Harris was scheduled to hold a rally and concert in Allentown on Monday, indicating a direct engagement with the local community.
