Richmond coach Damien Hardwick has hailed the transformation of Daniel Rioli as the reborn AFL defender inked a new five-year deal with the Tigers.

The 25-year-old played in Richmond's three premierships as a small forward but has been one of the AFL's most improved players after going to half-back.
