'Hard to explain' - Fabinho makes honest admission on Liverpool form

Fabinho has admitted he's had 'better seasons with Liverpool' as he looks to try and cement his place back in the starting XI once again.

The Brazilian has had to settle for a place amongst the Liverpool substitutes in recent weeks, but he was reinstated in the midfield three during Monday night's win over Everton.

Jurgen Klopp described the Brazilian's performance as one of the his best for a long time, which could see him set to continue in midfield as the Reds face a tricky away test against Newcastle on Saturday evening.

The 29-year-old is one of many Liverpool players this season who have struggled for form, with the Brazilian in particular a long way off the heights which saw him regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in the world.

Fabinho touched upon his form this season in an interview with Sky Sports ahead of the game at St James' Park: "It's a little bit hard to explain, but in football sometimes this happens. I'm just happy the team showed a really good attitude after the bad games that we had.

"I've had better seasons with Liverpool. Maybe I'm not at my highest level and playing my best football, but it's normal. In football you always try to be at your best level, physically and mentally."
