'Hard done by' lottery winner lost out on 5-bed home after girlfriend dumped him

A lottery winner says he feels "hard done by" claiming he has lost out on a five-bedroom house when his girlfriend dumped him.

Kirk Stevens, 39 said his former girlfriend Laura Hoyle, 40, had planned to move into a new build five-bedroom detached house after scooping the life changing cash in March last year.

But after allegedly dumping him and taking all the money Mr Stevens says he's been left devastated and feeling like he has lost out.

Kirk said he planned to ask her to marry him and asked her parents formally for her hand in marriage before buying an engagement ring.

He said: "That should be my home too. We choose it together.

"It is the house we were meant to move in together. It is beautiful, absolutely beautiful. It is three storey, five bedrooms. It is amazing!"

The pair bought the large red brick property off-plan on a new estate on the outskirts of Nottingham.

The three-storey end of cul-de-sac home overlooks a field and has one of the best views on the estate which is still under construction, according to Kirk.

Kirk and Laura scooped the jackpot in the National Lottery's Set For Life draw

It meant they won a total of £3.6million in March last year which would be divided over 30 years.

The Mirror reported how the engineer met Laura in 2018 and soon she moved into his £240,000 three-bed house in Hucknall, Nottingham.

Kirk has claimed he is owed some of the winnings despite the fact the ticket having been solely in Laura's name (Camelot / SWNS)

He claims Laura never paid him a penny of rent and instead the couple decided she would put £25 into the lotto every week.

Kirk added they agreed that if they won they would live it up together.

When this came true the couple hit the headlines as they became professional ghost hunters.

But he claims she decided to dump him and took all the cash with her.

Mr Stevens argues the "public" cheque had both names on it although it with bought from Miss Hoyle's account - saying this means it was "their win".

He insisted he couldn't force her to stay and allowed her to take the bed and furniture she had bought herself.

Laura dumped Kirk in June soon after they attended a friend's wedding (SWNS)

Speaking to The Sun, he said: “Laura had told me we’d live the life of Riley if we won.

"Now she’s gone. She pulled the plug and took everything. She even wants our two dogs.”

The couple broke up in June this year, after attending a friend’s wedding in Bristol.

Laura decided to end things between them - but Kirk said he wanted to try and fix things, but she didn’t want the same thing.

He pointed out how the money and financial independence it brought Laura, gave her the confidence to throw it all away.

He went as far as branding her “snobbish and superior.”
