It was a chilling cliffhanger that left Happy Valley fans reeling at the end of last Sunday's episode of the hit BBC One crime drama. Man on the edge Faisal Bhatti, played by Amit Shah, had been plotting with his neighbour Joanna Hepworth to murder her abusive PE teacher husband Rob.
Joanna, played by former Coronation Street star Mollie Winnard, got pharmacist Faisal on board to help her after lying that Rob knew he had been illegally supplying her with diazepam and was on the warpath. Armed with a loaded syringe, Faisal was fuming when Joanna tried to back out of their plan to kill bullying Rob.
During a furious row Faisal fell back on the kitchen counter at the home Joanna shares with Rob and their two daughters. But there was a shocking moment as he got back up to strike her with a rolling pin, knocking her out.

Joanna appeared to be still alive when her home phone rang with Sergeant Catherine Cawood, played by Sarah Lancashire, leaving her a message. However, as Catherine's voice sounded out across the kitchen, fans were left wondering if Faisal would go on to deliver the lethal injection on his lover.
Actor Amit has now taken to Twitter to chat with fans captivated by the third series of the Calder Valley-based series penned by Sally Wainwright, which is being streamed on iPlayer right from the beginning of series one back in 2014. "Hit me with your burning #HappyValley questions for the next hour and I will answer what I can!" he invited.
@andrewmcbride asked him: "Do you make it to episode 6?" And he replied teasingly: "Maybe Joanna and I both do?? I’m teasing… I can’t say."
@Simongeorge78 asked him outright: "Is she dead???" and he answered: "That’s a big question! If Joanna is dead… the bigger question is who actually killed her??"
@svickery27 wondered: "Has there been multiple endings filmed?" and Amit revealed: "Not sure but I was asked to play my final scene in many different ways by Sally Wainwright." @kevspencer51 wanted to know: "Is Faisal going to come out of this mess unscathed?" and he teased: "Maybe nobody does."
Amit went on to reveal filming secrets as he was asked by @hpstubbs: "Please tell me you actually did step repeatedly on the squeaky toy and its not an sfx added later...such joy to watch!" And he replied: "Definitely stepped on the squeaky toy every time! The props department placed in the exact spot before each take."
@a1c1mo asked: "Did the rolling pin sustain any damage?" and Amit explained: "We used a foam rolling pin and it did actually start to tear after take 5!"
It has previously been confirmed that these six new episodes, after six years away, will be the final chapter of the Happy Valley story. @daf_oc asked: "Why is this the last series? We need more!" And Amit responded: "Sally Wainwright always wanted this to be a 3 series show… I think."
But he drew the line at @Katie2333's question "will Rob be framed for the attack?" so as not to spoil it for fans. "Spoiler! Can’t go there. Sorry," he answered.
