Happy Valley fans see the same 'problem' during crucial final scene at Catherine's house

The BBC's hit drama Happy Valley concluded with an explosive finale on Sunday night (February 5). Police sergeant Catherine Cawood came face-to-face with the evil Tommy Lee Royce in the closing scenes of the series' last-ever episode.

But viewers spotted the same issue when Catherine, played by Sarah Lancashire, arrived at her home before the dramatic confrontation took place. They expressed disbelief when Catherine stepped inside the property, despite the clear prospect of escaped prisoner Royce being inside.

Catherine saw that the window to her basement had been smashed - then she crept into her house, taser at the ready, to find Royce sitting at her kitchen table having downed pills and alcohol in an attempt to kill himself. The fugitive had been looking at Catherine's family photo albums, containing pictures of his son Ryan and Catherine's late daughter Becky - who took her own life after being raped by Royce, played by James Norton.

But, given Tommy was a wanted man, concerned viewers questioned why the house wasn't under surveillance, the Manchester Evening News reports. @rorygils6 asked on Twitter: "Would they not have had somebody watching the house?!"

@sstefedgarr said: "Surely Katherine’s house would be under police surveillance." And @Oldandbored1 wrote: "Hmm, broken window at my house. Escaped murderer on the run. I know I'll just enter the house for a sneaky look around with out letting anyone know."

@EmeilieB begged: "Don't go in." And @quandromache shouted: "WHY ARE YOU IN THE HOUSE CATHERINE DONT BE IN THE HOUSE GET OUT OF THE HOUSE."

@FordRhetta tweeted: "So much screaming at the tv happening in this house." @SallyAnneWatts asked: "Why are you going into the house alone Catherine?" And @RhyLoosh echoed: "Do not go in that house, Jesus Catherine."

Fans also wondered why, when Catherine raised the alarm, assistance from her colleagues seemed to be taking so long in arriving. @horroraimee_ wondered: "How long does it take the police to get to Catherine's house?! Pressed for time here people chop chop."

@1957RAB joked: "Police back up must be riding tortoises." And @jayjay07251183 asked: "How long does it take the police to get there???"
