The festival commemorates the story of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) and his willingness to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. According to the Islamic tradition, just as Ibrahim was about to sacrifice his son, Allah provided a ram as a substitute, symbolizing a test of faith and divine mercy.
