This year, Easter will be observed on April 7, 2023 (Sunday). Each year the festival falls on the same day (Sunday) but the date changes. Easter is also known as Pascha or Resurrection Sunday. The festival marks the resurrection of Jesus from the dead.
The resurrection established Jesus as the Son of God and is cited as proof that God will righteously judge the world. The festival is celebrated by visiting church services, attending get together and parties, decorating easter eggs, etc. The egg is an ancient symbol of new life and rebirth. In Christianity it became associated with Jesus's crucifixion and resurrection. Many Christians also observe Lent, a 40-day period of fasting, prayer, and repentance leading up to Easter Sunday.
