Children's Day in India is annually observed on 14th November and is dedicated to the kids of the country. On this day the nation remembers the birth anniversary of India's first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, who was fond of children. Nehru, lovingly called "Chacha Nehru" meaning "Uncle Nehru," believed the children of the nation must be brought up with love, education, and scope to grow. He loved children deeply. It was on this philosophy that November 14 was declared Children's Day after his demise in 1964.
On this day, schools and educational institutions across India organize special events and activities to celebrate childhood and encourage learning in fun, engaging ways. Events often include cultural performances, speeches, and competitions, all aimed at boosting children’s creativity, confidence, and joy. Teachers, students, and even parents participate enthusiastically, turning the day into a memorable celebration of childhood.
