Hanwha Life Esports are the Mid-Season Invitational 2026 champions, defeating Bilibili Gaming 3-2 in a thrilling Grand Final on July 12 to claim the organization’s first MSI title and end BLG’s pursuit of the coveted Golden Road.
The LCK’s first seed held their nerve in a back-and-forth best-of-five, overcoming the reigning LPL champions in a series that lived up to its billing. With the win, HLE added its first-ever MSI trophy to its cabinet. BLG’s hopes of completing the Golden Road and winning every major tournament in a single season came to an end in Daejeon, South Korea.

Hanwha Life struck first in the series before BLG responded with two dominating statement performances to take games two and three, setting up a tightly contested series that went the full five games. Both teams traded blows throughout the match, but HLE’s Zeus was the main difference maker with his pocket picks of Swain and Dr. Mundo, which gave the team the edge to ultimately win game five, capping off one of the most memorable MSI finals in recent years.
Due to his standout performance in the Grand Final, Zeus was named the MSI 2026 Finals MVP. With the honor, he became only the second player in League of Legends history, after Faker, to win both the Worlds Finals MVP and MSI Finals MVP awards.
The title caps Hanwha Life’s remarkable turnaround. After finishing last in the 2026 LCK Cup, the team rebuilt around veterans Kanavi and Zeka, alongside former T1 stars Zeus and Gumayusi, culminating in its first international championship.
For BLG, the defeat ends a historic campaign. The LPL champions arrived at MSI after winning First Stand 2026, LPL Split 1, and Split 2, keeping their Golden Road dream alive. They reached the Grand Final through the upper bracket without losing a series, but HLE ultimately denied them the second international trophy of the year.
The victory also extends the LCK’s dominance on the international stage. Although defending champions Gen.G failed to qualify for MSI 2026 and T1 exited the tournament earlier than expected, Hanwha Life ensured the trophy remained in Korea by delivering when it mattered most on home soil.
After years of falling short internationally, HLE has finally claimed its first MSI title, toppling a seemingly unstoppable BLG to cement its place among League’s best. With the MSI trophy secured, the team should now turn its attention to World Championship 2026, where it will look to add the Summoner’s Cup to its growing legacy.
