Hannah Montana Star Miley Cyrus Calls Alex Cooper 'Kinda Creepy' for Being Superfan and Moving Next Door

Miley Cyrus jokingly called the podcast host Alex Cooper 'kinda creepy' for going from superfan to literal neighbour.

The comment, made during the newly released Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special on Disney+, has taken off across social media. Cooper, who hosts the Call Her Daddy podcast, is a vocal fan of Cyrus since her Hannah Montana days.

The 'Creepy' Comment That Got Everyone Talking

During a filmed segment of the special, Cyrus playfully teased Cooper while reflecting on their history.

'Alex being a superfan, kinda creepy. She's also my neighbor which is also creepy,' Cyrus said, laughing. 'She got money and then she moved next door to me so there was no other host.'

She doubled down on the joke by recalling their first meeting years ago, pointing out that Cooper already knew exactly where she lived.

'You interviewed me at my house five years ago, you know damn well where I live.'

The tone was unmistakably playful, with Cyrus immediately praising Cooper's dedication and calling her 'insanely' committed to Hannah Montana.

From Superfan to Host: A Full-Circle Moment

Back in 2020, Cooper — now one of the most successful podcasters in the industry — interviewed Cyrus on her show Call Her Daddy. At the time, she openly described herself as a lifelong Hannah Montana fan and admitted she was so nervous before the interview that she felt physically sick.

Years later, after major podcast deals and career growth, Cooper ended up buying a home in the same neighbourhood as Cyrus.

Inside the Anniversary Special

The Disney+ special marks 20 years since Hannah Montana first aired, blending nostalgia with a more personal look at Cyrus' journey.

The production features recreated sets, a live audience, and an extended sit-down conversation led by Cooper. It's also one of the first times Cyrus has revisited the character so directly in years, even briefly appearing in the iconic blonde wig.

Cooper's role as host is central to the format, making Cyrus' on-stage teasing feel more like friendly banter than anything else.

For Now Cyrus's Comment Is Just Friendly Banter

Despite the viral clips, there's no indication of tension between the two.

Cyrus's comments were followed by genuine praise, and the interaction has been widely interpreted as affectionate rather than critical. Fans online have described it as 'peak full-circle energy' — a former superfan now leading a major career moment for the artist she admired.

Meanwhile, the playful dynamic between the two carried into a recent sit-down with Variety, where Cyrus proved she still remembers her Hannah Montana roots and used it as another chance to tease Cooper.

Miley Cyrus considers celebrating the 20th anniversary of Hannah Montana with special projects or events.

In a YouTube segment, Cyrus was quizzed on lyrics from her Disney Channel era and easily recalled lines from the fan-favourite song Rockstar. That's when she brought Cooper into the moment, revealing it's her favourite track — despite not fully knowing the lyrics.

'I asked her, does she actually know the lyrics to it? And she never knew that it says 'Tai Chi practising, snowboard champion,' Cyrus said, smiling.

She added that Cooper even has a tattoo inspired by the song, joking, 'She does have it tattooed on her arms, so I don't know how she forgot.'

Cyrus also credited Cooper with shaping parts of the anniversary special, including helping secure an appearance from Selena Gomez, and encouraging creative choices that tied Cyrus' real life back to the show.
