With December now in full swing, it's not long before we will be opening the last day of our advent calendars.
And at this time of year of course comes the colder weather with snow, ice and frost all causing us to wait a little longer in the morning.
But there's one iPhone trick that can alert you to the snow before it falls and it seems that not many people know the handy hack.

According to mobile phone retailer Fonehouse, you can get real-time alerts from the weather app. It should inform you a few minutes before it's going to start. And you'll also receive another alert when the snow is almost finished.
To turn it on you need to do the following:
- Open the Weather app
- Tap the three-line icon in the bottom right corner of the screen
- Tap the circle icon with the three dots in the top right corner of the screen
- Tap Notifications
- Under Current Location slide the switch next to Next-Hour Precipitation to the On position
- Tap Done
If you have more than one location added to the Weather app, you can turn on alerts for each one.
Ben Branson, CEO of Fonehouse said: “iPhones are packed full of technology with great features, settings and shortcuts. But the fact that they have so many features, means it can be impossible to know everything they are capable of.
“Whether you’re new to Apple, or just wanting to learn more about what your iPhone can do, we hope this hidden tip is useful and can help you make the most out of your smartphone.”
