Handwritten letter from King Charles found by 'gobsmacked' couple sells for £7k

A handwritten letter by King Charles that was found by a gobsmacked couple has sold at auction for a staggering £6,000.

The letter, written on Buckingham Palace notepaper and dated March 15, 1955, was addressed to the Queen Mother who the monarch refers to as his 'ill Granny'.

In the letter, the now king wrote: "Dear Granny, I am sorry that you are ill. I hope you will be better soon." And on the back of the letter, he had written: "Lots of love from Charles." He signed off with colourful doodles and 14 "x" kisses.
