Hamza Yassin's emotional Strictly tribute to Jowita Przystal overheard by fans before win

New Strictly champion Hamza Yassin told pro dancer Jowita Przystal she was 'simply the best' as they ended their final dance in Saturday's final, before the routine earned them their first perfect score and they went onto win the new series.

Hamza and Jowita, who made the final in her first year having a celeb partner on Strictly, got the finale off to an amazing start with their salsa to Sash's Ecuador, after the judges asked them to reprise the week four routine. The number got a raucous reaction in the studio, but rather than get a perfect 40, it ended up getting 39, the same score as first time round, as Craig Revel-Horwood couldn't be swayed to award a 10.

After a brilliant start to the night, things faltered slightly for the couple when errors in their Show Dance to Let's Face the Music and Dance were picked up by their judges and saw their score dip to 34. Hamza looked gutted as Shirley Ballas outlined the mistakes in the performance, however, he was smiling after dance number three, his and Jowita's Couple's Choice. The number soundtracked to Jerusalema, was a big hit with the judges and viewers a few weeks ago and was even better on its second outing.

At the end of their first dance of the night, Jowita heaped praise on Hamza and after the music stopped on their last performance, it was Hamza who was overheard saying something, as he looked and Jowita and said 'you are simply the best.'

There was further delight for both of them when, after giving glowing feedback, each of the judges gave a 10, resulting in Hamza and Jowita getting 40 out of 40 for the time this series. And, the night ended on an even bigger high, when they were announced as winners.
