Hamza Yassin forced to undergo sports rehab after gruelling Strictly rehearsals

Strictly Come Dancing star Hamza Yassin has impressed viewers week in, week out with his stunning dance moves, but that's taken a toll on the star.

The fan-favourite contestant has won the hearts of Strictly fans, and is even a front-runner to take home the Glitterball Trophy at the end of the series. But, after weeks of gruelling dance practice for the BBC competition, Hamza has needed some TLC as he announced he's had to visit a sports rehab clinic.

Taking to social media, the Sudan-born wildlife expert shared a photo of himself wearing leg supports, confiding: "A bit of rehab, it's much needed for when we are learning two dances!

"Thank you @georgetheosteo for your support, my friend," he captioned the photo, name-checking an osteopathic doctor who specialises in treating sports injuries.

Hamza, who is best known for his work on CBBC and Countryfile, took a visit to the health practitioner to ensure he's on top form for the Strictly semi-finals this weekend. Sports injury specialist George Sotiri's social media page is full of him helping those with chronic pain, and even making postural adjustments to misaligned spines.

George's huge list of potential treatments includes cupping therapy, shockwave therapy and even rib manipulation.

Hamza, who is a wildlife photographer based in the Highlands, was originally deemed clumsy and seemed to be lacking in confidence at the beginning of the BBC ballroom dancing show. But 32-year-old has come on leaps and bounds as he continues rehearsals with professional dance partner Jowita Przystał.

Since signing up for Strictly, Hamza has lost over 20lbs from all the rehearsing week after week. Speaking to Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley on Good Morning Britain, Hamza said: "I have, I've lost eight and a half kilos." Impressed, Richard quipped: "Woah, that's nearly 20lbs."

The wildlife enthusiast told Susanna and Richard that he's training a gruelling nine hours a day to ensure his routines are perfect ahead of the live shows. The Animal Park star added: "It's hard on the body, the knees and legs are hurting."
