Hamilton head coach Stuart Taylor was happy with how some of his players battled through their fitness concerns to secure a 1-0 victory at Morton.
David Moyo's goal after six minutes was enough to split the pair at Cappielow, with both teams cracking the woodwork in the first half.
Accies took plenty of bumps along the way, Jamie Hamilton and Scott Martin both subbed with injury in the second period as they secured Championship safety.
Taylor's team now sit sixth and four points off Raith Rovers in fifth place ahead of hosting the Kirkcaldy side in their final home match this season next weekend.
Experienced defender Brian Easton played the entire 90 minutes after an injection and his boss was pleased to see his men match Morton's fighting spirit.
The 47-year-old said: "Scott Martin got a real bad one, and he battled through, but every time he ran he felt his leg was going. Jamie and Brian took injections to get through the game.
"Jamie struggled as the injection wore off. The next part of his development is to come through and see games like that.
"As you get older, you are never going out on a pitch feeling 100%. The injection helped him and Brian saw the game out.
"It's that competitive edge Morton have. We respect and admire that. We had to match that and compete with it, which we did."
Taylor was aware it wouldn't be a particularly pretty game of football in Greenock, but his team getting the ball down to play impressed him.
Now mathematically secure in the league for next season, the former midfielder believes some doubters have been silenced.
He added: "We knew it was going to be a battle coming down here. We knew it would be tough and it was about having that composure to get on the ball.
"Could we be composed enough to get it down? I thought the lads were fantastic and I am really proud of them. Morton are one of the toughest sides to play against.
"It was mentioned very early in the season about teams who could go down. It's about being positive and getting as high up the table as we can.
"We answered those critics and showed we are always looking above us, looking to finish as high as we can in the league."
