Hamilton Accies to part company with boss Stuart Taylor

Hamilton Accies are set to part company with head coach Stuart Taylor this week - after less than a year in charge of the Scottish Championship side.

Lanarkshire Live Sport can reveal the former Accies player, who spent four years as Billy Reid's assistant from 2007 and also played in the club's promotion-winning season in 2008, will leave New Douglas Park this week after a disappointing campaign saw Accies finish outside the play-off spots.

Taylor replaced Brian Rice at the helm in August last year after Rice resigned from his role having overseen the club's relegation from the Scottish Championship.

But Taylor's team came up short in their promotion bid as they finished sixth in the 10-team division.

Accies are desperate to return to Scotland's top flight, where they spent three years between 2008-2011 and produced some top talents through their academy, including the likes of James McCarthy and James McArthur, before a further spell between 2014-2021.

Morton boss Dougie Imrie (Greenock Morton FC)

It is understood Accies legend Dougie Imrie, currently in charge of Championship rivals Greenock Morton, is among the favourites to take charge for next season following an impressive managerial debut at Cappielow.

The club will groundshare with League One Clyde next season in a big boost to the New Douglas Park coffers as they prepare for a second season outside of the top flight.
