Hamilton Accies slash Inverness cup clash tickets to just £3

Hamilton Accies have slashed their ticket prices for Saturday's SPFL Trust Trophy clash with Inverness to just £3.

The decision comes after the Highland outfit announced yesterday that they will be forced to play a large portion of their youth team, some of whom are still at school, due to major injury issues.

Briefs for the fourth round clash at New Douglas Park were priced at £15 for adults but following discussions with the Scottish Football Association and Inverness Caledonian Thistle, entry to the clash will now cost just £3 for all.

Tickets can be purchased via the fanbase app or cash at turnstiles on the day. Season tickets and gold cards are not valid for the match.

Some tickets have already been snapped up by local community groups and the club are also hoping the move will help boost the attendance of local youngsters, as Accies bid for a place in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Announcing their issues with player availability yesterday, a statement from Inverness read: "As the ticket prices for our away SPFL Trust cup tie against Hamilton are announced, the club feels that it is only fair to let Caley Thistle fans know that because of our continued unprecedented injury situation and the lack of assistance we applied for via the proper channels at the SPFL, the club will have no choice but to play a team in this tie, which will not include many of our current first team squad.

"While we will obviously welcome support for the boys, this in effect will mean our under-18 squad, many of whom are still at school, will play the game.

"We believe that it is only fair that our supporters know this in advance of purchasing tickets and planning a round trip journey of six hours-plus and over 300 miles, which we do of course face again the following week in the league match at Hamilton.

"We have spoken to Hamilton in advance of the ticket announcement to explain our situation which is in no way a reflection of anything else other than our injury situation."

Saturday's match is a 3pm kick-off.
