Hamilton star Dario Zanatta admits his side were taught a harsh lesson in finishing as they lost 2-0 at home to Queen's Park on Saturday.
Accies dominated the first half and had several chances to take the lead, including the 25-year-old Canadian striker hitting the post.
Queen's Park had chance of their own and took the lead in 42 minutes when Grant Savoury's free kick hit the bar, struck keeper Ryan Fulton and was forced over the line by Simon Murray.
Accies came out in the second half looking like they were going to find an equaliser, only for Savoury to unleash a thunderbolt into the top left corner in 52 minutes, which seemed to take the wind out of the hosts' sails.
Zanatta was stunned to be on the losing side, and though he says that's the best Hamilton have played since he arrived from Raith Rovers, that's meaningless, now.
He said: "It's a harsh lesson in finishing, and that's the harsh reality of football.
"Goals change games, and we definitely created more chances than them.
"I'm disappointed not to take anything from the game.
"I think that's probably the most chances we've created since I've been here at the club, and I'm a bit disappointed I'm not walking away with one or two goals at least.
"I hit the post, there were other chances, and there was one in the second half that I'm really annoyed with, because I'm 10 or 12 yards out, I've done well, beat a few boys, and I just need to hit the target, there.
"That's probably one of the best games we've played since I've been here but, realistically, it's irrelevant.
"You want three points. You'd rather play like crap and pick up the points, but we have to dust ourselves down."
Zanatta admits those are games that Hamilton must be picking points up from, especially in home games.
He said: "These are important points to be picking up at the start of the season.
"We had a good chat after the game and there's lots of improvement to be made.
"We want to make this place tougher for people to come, so we're definitely looking to change that.
"It's a bit annoying to have a free weekend, I would have been happier playing the Challenge Cup game against Rangers, but we'll be ready.
"We'll hopefully get a bounce game in or something, and be ready for the Dundee game."
