Hamas Leader's Death In Israeli Airstrike Unconfirmed

Palestinian group Hamas' top leader, Ismail Haniyeh and Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian attend a press conference in Tehran

A member of Hamas’ political bureau has stated that only the military arm of the organization can confirm or deny the death of Mohammed Deif in an Israeli airstrike that took place in southern Gaza in July. Izzat Al Rishq, in a post on Telegram, emphasized that the responsibility of confirming or denying the martyrdom of any Qassam leaders lies with the Qassam Brigades leadership and the movement leadership.

Al Rishq further added that unless an official announcement is made by either of these leadership bodies, no news reported in the media or by any other parties can be considered confirmed.

Israeli military claims killing Hamas' military chief in July airstrike.
Hamas insists only official announcements confirm Mohammed Deif's fate.
Al Rishq emphasizes Qassam Brigades leadership's role in confirming leaders' deaths.

This statement from Hamas comes in response to claims by the Israeli military that its fighter jets had killed Hamas’ military chief in July, who is believed to have been one of the masterminds behind recent attacks. The Israeli airstrike in southern Gaza reportedly resulted in the deaths of at least 90 Palestinians and left around 300 people injured in Al-Mawasi, according to health officials in Gaza.

The incident has sparked controversy and raised questions about the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, with conflicting reports emerging from both sides. As of now, Hamas has maintained its stance that only official announcements from the Qassam Brigades leadership or the movement leadership can confirm the fate of Mohammed Deif.
