The remake of Halo’s first game, now titled Halo: Campaign Evolved, is set to release on July 18, 2026.
The XBOX Games Showcase started off strong this Sunday to reveal that the remake from Halo Studios is debuting in a little less than two months, with preorders already available for early access.
Operation METEORITE: Three New Prequel Missions
The focus of this newest trailer for Halo: Campaign Evolved were the three new missions being added to the remake. Set one full year before the UNSC stumbles across the Halo, Operation: METEORITE takes players to fight across Covenant-controlled space to experience “new locations, new enemy variants, more weapons from across the Halo series, and new ways to play within the Halo sandbox”.
Sgt. Johnson, a fan favorite character that’s been with the series since the very beginning, narrates the trailer as he describes all the missions he and the Master Chief embarked on before the events of Combat Evolved. In this trailer, Master Chief seems to be wearing armor from later games despite the Mark V armor being used for the main events of the remake.
To further build hype for the new missions, a blog post from Xbox confirmed that the story was written in collaboration with Troy Denning, an acclaimed sci-fi author known for his work on the Halo books to bring in the “tone, stakes, and military sci-fi texture that players expect from Halo”.

Preorders are already available, with early access beginning on July 23 for players who can’t wait to get back into the fight.
