Halloween Dublin 2022: The best things to do this October bank holiday weekend

Halloween has arrived and this bank holiday weekend is set to be packed full with fun activities for both families and adults.

There are loads of events happening across Dublin, and we have picked out the best activities to keep you entertained. From pumpkin patches to treasure hunts to cinema trips, there is something here for everyone.

Malahide Haunted Treasure Hunt

Malahide Castle and Gardens are hosting a haunted treasure trail , inviting families to take part from October 29 to 31. The popular fairy trail will transform for Halloween. Diabolical Dorothy’s Dreadful Brew will see the Castle’s resident witch seek the help of visitors to find her potion ingredients along the spooky trail. Bookings can be made here .

Liffey Valley Shopping Centre pumpkin patch

Liffey Valley Shopping Centre have a family friendly pumpkin patch this weekend, along with other Halloween experiences. The pumpkin patch experience will be kicking off on Friday, October 28 and will last until Sunday, October 30.

Those visiting the shopping centre on the Halloween weekend will get the chance to select and decorate their seasonal jack-o-lantern. Tickets for the experience are free and can be booked here.

Bram Stoker Festival

One of the most highly anticipated Halloween events in Dublin, Bram Stoker Festival, returns from October 28 until 30. More than 40,000 people are expected to enjoy the first live edition of the event since 2019. As part of the festival, there will be Stokerland, the annual pop-up Victorian fun park in St Patrick's Park as well as Spooky Stories at Marsh’s Library and other themed events.

Púca Festival

Taking place this October Bank Holiday weekend, Púca Festival in Trim features a wonderful line-up of performances from Irish favourites such as Gavin James, Imelda May, Joanne McNally, The Academic and Blindboy as well as things like Celtic Voyage Circus and Haunted Trim Walking Tours. Silver Scream at the Lighthouse Cinema

The Lighthouse Cinema is hosting a Silver Scream event this Halloween and are showing some classic horror movies. On Friday October 28 a Spanish version of Dracula will be showing at 8.30pm as part of the Bram Stoker Festival. On Saturday October 29 The Lost Boys Party is taking place where a screening of the newly restored version will be followed by a themed party. Then on Tuesday November 1 there will be a screening of The Shining at 6.30pm.

Ken’s Halloween House - Killiney

Dubliners can face their fears this weekend and pay a visit to one of Ireland's scariest homes. Ken Carraher's has transformed his garden in Killiney to a scary scene not suitable for the faint of heart.

Ken has created the spooky garden in aid of charity and is hoping to raise €10,000 for Debra Ireland. The charity helps 300 people in Ireland with EB (epidermolysis bullosa), which is a rare and extremely painful skin condition that causes blistering and injury at the smallest touch.

There is no charge to enter Ken's house of horrors, however everyone is encourages to donate in collection boxes when entering. Ken’s Halloween House is Number 5 Bayview Court, Killiney Hill Road, Killiney, Dublin. Public opening hours: 4-8pm this Friday 28, Saturday 29 and Sunday 30, and 4-9pm Monday 31 for Halloween night.

Bushy Park Halloween Party

The final market in Bushy Park for 2022 is taking place this Saturday. The popular food market is set to go out with a bang as lots of fun activities have been planned for families. A magic show, face painting and a scary forest is lined-up for this Saturday October 29.

The Monster Mash Up Halloween Festival

Finglas Fright Night and Otherworld Halloween Festivals have teamed up this year to create The Monster Mash Up Halloween Festival. Taking place from October 28 until 31, events for all the family include a Finglas and Ballymun light show, a cinema club at the Axis Theatre and more spooky fun.

SpookField at Smithfield Square

From October 29 until 31, a themed light show at Smithfield Square will feature Halloween hologram style content, ghoulish sounds and devilish lights. The show will start at 6pm every evening and is free to attend.
