Police have increased patrols in a Welsh town after shocking videos showed 40 youths shooting fireworks at cars on Halloween night. South Wales Police were called to reports of a large group of people throwing eggs and shooting fireworks at oncoming cars before laughing and running away near High Street in Ferndale, Rhondda Cynon Taf.
The footage shared on social media on Monday night appears to show youngsters aiming fireworks at moving cars while dressed in black and obscuring their faces. They are then seen setting them off when loud banging and laughing can be heard and red light flies into the air before some of the group runs away.
Police said around 40 youths had gathered and that several were identified and taken home by officers. They added that efforts were being made to identify others responsible and that it was "only by chance" that nobody was injured. Patrols have been increased in the area until Bonfire Night this weekend after the incident, which has drawn shock from locals.
