Hall of Fame Game: Players on roster bubble for Bears, Texans for Cardinals fans to watch

The first preseason game of 2024 is the Hall of Fame Game between the Houston Texans and Chicago Bears. Arizona Cardinals fans can watch the game with a couple of things in mind.

One is to watch to see what the Bears do, as they face Chicago in the regular season. However, as no starter is expected to play, there won’t be much that can be taken away from how they play.

The other is to watch with an eye on players who could end up being cut. The Cardinals will have a high waiver priority. Quality players are cut every year before the season.

With both the Texans and Bears having a number of players on the roster bubble, we can look at some players who might fit what the Cardinals need and might not make their respective teams.

Who are some of them?

Bears RB Khalil Herbert

Herbert might be expendable with the addition D’Andre Swift. Herbert ran for over 600 yards last season. While the Cardinals appear set at running back, a need could come up.

WR Velus Jones

Jones has returned kicks for the Bears. He might be a decent target if cut.

Bears EDGE Dominique Robinson

Robinson has only two NFL sacks and 1.5 of them came in one game as a rookie. But the Cardinals’ OLB room is far from impressive.

Texans EDGE Solomon Byrd

The rookie seventh-round pick is not sure thing for the roster and the Cardinals were active last year adding rookies.
