The UK high street has been dealt another blow as Lloyds Banking Group says it is to shut 66 more branches permanently later this year and into 2023. The closures will see 48 branches of Lloyds Bank and 18 Halifax branches close for good between October 2022 and February 2023.
The list of closures, which you can see below, affects branches in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The Mirror reports it is the fourth announcement from Lloyds Banking Group about closures in recent months.
Across the country, 133 Lloyds Bank branches, 50 Halifax branches and 19 Bank of Scotland branches will be shut for ever by early 2023. Lloyds has already said 28 outlets would close between August and November this year, while a further 60 sites are shutting between June and September.
Customers who find their nearest branch is closing will have at least one free-to-use ATM within half a mile, Lloyds Banking Group said. Customers can also access some Lloyds and Halifax services through the Post Office.
The increase in online banking has seen the number of high street banks and building societies drastically reduce over recent years.
