Half of West Lothian families who asked to home Ukrainian refugees changed their minds or were excluded

More than half of the West Lothian families who volunteered to host Ukrainian refugees as part of Holyrood’s Super Sponsor scheme have withdrawn or been excluded, it has emerged.

A meeting of the support network gathered by West Lothian Voluntary Sector Gateway heard that while more than 70 Ukrainians have been successfully settled in the county under the Homes for Ukraine Scheme, a Scottish government scheme has faced difficulties.

Homes for Ukraine has seen 51 families provide homes to 74 refugees - with another 24 set to arrive once their visas have been settled.
