1,000 people were surveyed on their beliefs this week for online lottery company Lottoland.
When it comes to spiritual beliefs around the regions over half of the Connacht-Ulster folk (51%) who are the most open people in the country to the supernatural just ahead of the rural Leinster counties (49%).
A good proportion of Dubliners have ghostly beliefs (43%) whilst down south in Munster their citizens have the least faith in the spiritual (40%) according to the Lottoland poll which was taken this week.
Interestingly when the survey broke down the supernatural beliefs by the various age demographics in the country it was the Millennial 25-34 age group who were the most superstitious with nearly 3 in 5 (59%) who said they believed in ghosts and ghouls whilst in complete contrast the oldest 65+ age group were the most sceptical with almost 3 in every 4 dismissive of the supernatural.
A Lottoland spokesperson commented: “Who doesn’t doubt the shadowy eeriness and spine tingling-chills of the ghoulish and macabreness of the Halloween season? We’re never sceptical in our present day world and would always take a bit of the ‘luck of the Irish’ anywhere we could get it including the other world!”
