Half of football fans have forgotten birthdays or anniversaries because of a match

Four in ten football fans (38%) describe the sport as their “true love” – and have proved their dedication with football-themed weddings, tattoos, and even by naming their kids after players, according to a study.

Footie-mad Brits typically watch 100 hours of matches a year, and spend around 28 minutes every day thinking about the beautiful game, a poll of 2,000 sports fans revealed.

More than a third (38%) are self-proclaimed obsessives – with half (51%) even forgetting important events like birthdays and anniversaries, as a result of being preoccupied with the sport.
