Haji Wright booed amid Rangers transfer rumour as boss shocked by rising fury surrounding star man

Antalyaspor frontman Haji Wright was booed by his own fans are he came off the bench as rumours of a move to Rangers bubbles over in Turkey.

Michael Beale is set to ramp up his Ibrox rebuild before the Scottish Premiership season comes to an end with a host of big names linked with a switch to Govan with key figures like Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent heading for the exit door. In the Turkish media, reports have claimed that a £7m offer for American international Wright has already been rejected.

Swirling rumours state that the 25-year-old has told the Super Lig outfit that he wants to leave this summer - with the club demanding an £8.5m transfer fee to rubber stamp an exit. It would be a bumper outlay from Rangers during their overhaul of the dressing room - but the pressure has ramped up on Wright during a five-game run without a goal.

During the clash goalless draw with Istanbul Basakeshir, Wright was replaced after 81 minutes. Loud whistle and boos could be heard around the Antalya Stadium as the attacker walker off the pitch.

Boss Nuri Sahin attempted to calm the rising temperatures between the fans and player after the full-time whistle - pointing to the 14 goals from the frontman before chatter of a switch to Rangers emerged. He said: "I am not a person who has understood whistling all my life.

"I have always stood against it both in my football career and in my coaching period. I was surprised, I was surprised because it is clear that Haji has given us so far, it is clear what he will give."
