Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers has delighted fans as he shares a 'big step forward' amid his cancer battle. The chef revealed back in May that he was undergoing chemotherapy after being diagnosed with cancer.
Dave, who found fame as one half of cooking duo the Hairy Bikers alongside friend Simon 'Si' King, revealed the news of his cancer diagnosis on an episode of the pair's Agony Uncles podcast and said that he didn't want to 'hide under a rock', but will be away from work, asking fans to 'respect his privacy' as he undergoes treatment.
However, fans were thrilled when Dave made his first TV appearance in months back in December. He also appeared in a brand new series with Si on the BBC, titled Go Local, which followed the pair as they tested the local delicacies, restaurants and most innovative suppliers.
The show, which was filmed before Dave's cancer diagnosis and treatment, had mostly gone down a treat with fans. However, taking to social media, Dave and Si revealed the "sad" news that the show is already over after eight episodes last month.
Though Dave has managed to put a smile back on fans' faces as he shared a picture of himself with his partner in crime Si on the pair's joint Instagram page. It showed the smiling pair posing alongside a new motorbike which signalled a new step for Dave in his recovery.
"Big step forward in getting back in the saddle," Dave penned alongside the wonderful image, which showed the pair ready to ride in their jeans and biker jackets. Dave continued: "Si came with me to take a look at my new bike, a 500cc royal Enfield bullet trials bike. Very exiting, thank you Arnold’s motorcycles of Burton. Love Dave."
And the comments were quickly filled with people sharing their joy at seeing Dave being able to get back to riding. @sparkybeemer said: "Fantastic news. Until you have ridden a bike people just do not understand the pull of getting back riding again. Have fun and stay safe Dave and Si."
@tracey.adams68 replied: "Fantastic news Dave. Onwards and upwards." @ashdownsgirl wrote: "Enjoy - you so deserve it. I’m thrilled for you, sending my very best wishes." @rosina4263 posted: "That’s the ticket Dave….back on a new bike….splendid progress."
@elstagram74 shared: "Looking well Dave, you're one hell of a fighter." @woodlandhandmadebathproducts commented: "Fantastic to see you well enough to get back in the bike Dave. Safe travels." @elliotwhysall added: "Amazing news! Great to have you back in the saddle. Keep doing what you both do so well."
