Hairdresser reveals why you should never wear a certain outfit for appointments

Going to the salon for a haircut or treatment can sometimes be a lengthy process, so in terms of an outfit to wear, comfort is key.

Most of us probably don't give too much thought into what we wear to the hairdressers, as it's always a casual affair. But according to one hairstylist, one particular item of clothing should be avoided at all costs.

The woman, who goes by @by.brittany on TikTok, says that wearing it piles on unnecessary stress to her job, especially if the client is getting their hair dyed.

The Mirror reports that Brittany explained her reasons in a video that's racked up over 60.3K views.

She explained: "When you come to your appointment wearing a turtleneck. Please don't wear a turtleneck."

"It's probably gonna get colour on it, and then it's gonna be my fault, even though you shouldn't have worn a turtleneck to your appointment."

Brittany also delved into some of her other 'icks' that she's come across during her time working at a salon.

These included clients turning up late to an appointment with a coffee in hand - without bringing one for their hardworking hairdresser - and using too much purple shampoo while expecting the stylist to make their hair "blonder".

Brittany also finds it unacceptable when her clients badmouth other hairdressers, saying: "When someone complains about their old hairstylist and kind of wants you to complain about them as well. Don't do that. Ick."

Her video seemed to resonate with other hairstylists in the business as the comment section was soon full of people praising Brittany for "spreading the good word".

A second person wrote: "This is good stuff. I would agree with you on all! White turtle necks all day for me with dark colour!"

A third commented: "And don’t wear a bulky hoodie or favorite light-colored [sic] shirt. Because you never know."

A fourth added: "Or hoodies when they don't have a t-shirt on underneath. The amount of times that happens is super annoying."
