A pair of jeans stamped with someone's birth year is usually a vanity detail. On Hailey Bieber's new Gap capsule, it reads more like a thesis statement. "The Hailey Jean," which launched July 16, pairs two silhouettes — the Extra Baggy Jean and the '90s Low Rise Loose Jean — each offered in light, medium and dark washes, for six styles total at $89 apiece. Both are cut from rigid 100% cotton denim built to break in with wear, finished with custom "1996" hardware marking Bieber's birth year and her signature printed inside the pocket lining.
As of this writing, some sizes and washes have already grown difficult to find online, though Gap's inventory shifts with restocks and returns. The scarcity is notable less as a sales statistic — no unit or revenue figures have been disclosed — and more as an early signal that the collaboration is landing with the audience it was built for.
