Hailey Bieber reveals she had heart surgery after ‘scary’ mini-stroke

Hailey Bieber has opened up about suffering a “really scary” mini-stroke which left her unable to speak.

The model wife of popstar Justin Bieber detailed the ordeal in a 12-minute YouTube video, called ‘telling my story’, on Wednesday.

She revealed the stroke was from a blood clot as a result of a combination of a long haul flight, Covid, and side effects from birth control pills.

The 25-year-old told fans how she noticed something was wrong when she began having trouble with her speech and her fingertips went numb while having breakfast with Justin.

She said: “[It was] definitely the scariest moment of my life.”

Tests revealed she had what is called a grade-five patent foramen ovale (PFO), the largest category of a hole in the heart.

The clot was able to escape through her heart and travel to her brain - requiring emergency surgery to fix the problem.

Recounting the health scare, she said: “I would get really bad anxiety and my anxiety was making me feel funny.

“It would make my fingers and hands feel tingly, and I just honestly had a really, really hard time."

After undergoing the surgery, the model said she quickly recovered.

“The biggest thing I feel is I just feel really relieved that we were able to figure everything out, that we were able to get it closed,” she said.

“That I will be able to just move on from this really scary situation and just live my life."

She thanked doctors who had taken care of her throughout the scare, saying: “If there’s anybody that watches this that has gone through the same thing or something similar, I definitely really empathise with you.

“And I understand how life-altering and scary it is."

She said she is now taking aspirin and blood thinners daily, and shared that she is no longer suffering from any related symptoms as a result of the episode.
