H1N1 emerged as the main influenza strain in India, making up three-fourths of all influenza-positive samples recorded in the latest World Health Organization (WHO) surveillance data.
The WHO data covers September 1-14, 2026, and was updated on September 21. During this period, 817 of 3,632 samples tested across the South-East Asia region were positive for influenza, putting the regional positivity rate at 22%.
