Gustavo Scarpa Nottingham Forest transfer stance as ‘interest’ mounts

Gustavo Scarpa ‘wants to stay’ at Nottingham Forest this summer, despite interest from five different clubs around the world, according to reports in Brazil.

The Brazilian arrived on a free transfer in the January transfer window, but both injury and personal reasons restricted him to just six Premier League appearances. His final appearance of the season came back in April when he came on as a second half substitute in the 2-1 defeat against Leeds United.

A knee injury saw Scarpa miss the remainder of the season as Forest secured their Premier League safety. There has now been doubts over his future at the City Ground, with Besiktas said to have made a loan offer to Forest.

Brazilian side Palmeiras have also been linked with an interest in the player. Premier League Brasil also report that teams from Italy, Germany, Greece and Brazil are all ‘interested’.

The report adds that the reason none of these deals have moved on is because Scarpa ‘wants to stay’ at Forest next season. The player is determined to prove his worth in the Premier League.

Speaking back in March, the player himself spoke of the time needed to adapt to life in the Premier League, “I was surprised because everything happened so fast, starting to play, having opportunities. Now I’m having a little less, but I think it’s normal, everyone goes through it, I’ve been through it myself a few times in Brazil,” he said .

“The choice to come here was very much the fulfilment of a dream. And I’m a person who, you can tell even by my hobbies I have, I insist until I succeed. I don’t want to just get here, stay six months, say ‘I’ve had my experience and I’m going back to Brazil’, because that would be very comfortable. But what I seek nowadays is not comfort, in fact it never was.”
