Armed cops raced to a train station amid reports of man with a "weapon" only to find him holding a piece of garden hose.
The full-scale emergency was sparked when James Stevenson told workers he had a 9mm pistol.
Hamilton Sheriff Court heard last week the firearms team were dispatched to the Lanarkshire scene shortly after maintenance workers saw the 32-year-old on the platform, the Daily Record reports.

Prosecutor Chloe O'Hara said the drama unfolded around midnight at Carfin on December 22 last year, when Stevenson claimed to have found a gun and the workers contacted British Transport Police.
She added: "Shortly after this, he walked out of the station and shouted, 'I want to surrender'.
"Then officers from the firearms unit arrived. They instructed Stevenson to lie on the ground. He did so and was handcuffed.
"A garden hose nozzle was located next to him."
Stevenson pled guilty to a breach of the peace.
Sheriff John Speir remanded Stevenson in custody for reports.
