Rani ki Vav, Patan, The One That Earned a UNESCO Badge and Still Gets Ignored

Patan is 125 kilometres north of Ahmedabad. The drive takes under two hours. Rani ki Vav was built in the 11th century by Queen Udayamati of the Solanki dynasty as a memorial to her husband, King Bhimdev I, and it was buried under silt for nearly 700 years before the Archaeological Survey of India excavated it. UNESCO listed it as a World Heritage Site in 2014. It is also on the back of the hundred-rupee note. None of this has produced a crowd.
