RAJKOT: Five people including three women were arrested for attacking three policemen who had gone to arrest a member of their family wanted in a theft case lodged in Gandhidham town of Kutch on Saturday.
Police got information that Akram Chavda, who has at least 10 offences of theft registered against him, had come to his house. Three cops Bharat Bhati, Tanerajsinh and Pradeepsinh arrested him from the house but the family members attacked them with knives and axes.
Additional police force was called, and on combing, they recovered 36 sharp and blunt weapons including knives, axes, iron rods from the house of the accused.
Those arrested were Akram Chavda, his father Ismail, aunt Shabnam, Jalaben Ladak and Sabera Sorathiya.
