Guild Wars 3 Summer Game Fest rumors start flying thanks to a sudden web domain update: "WE WAITED 10,000 YEARS!"

Guild Wars 2.

Oh, the rumor mill is spinning when it comes to Guild Wars 3. Various reports and false flags for the latent follow-up to Guild Wars 2 have sprung up in recent years, but a domain update spotted by fans may indicate movement on the MMORPG.

A dot-com domain for Guild Wars 3 has been registered since June 2004, presumably as a precaution by NCSoft when the original came out, in case the original game became a successful series. 22 years later, that turned out to be a smart move.

But after over two decades, the site got an update on June 5, 2026, according to online directories for URL information. That's today, at time of writing. Now, there's nothing public - the URL isn't live or anything - but something stirred on the backend somewhere.

The site is tied to Amazon Web Services, a popular contemporary hosting platform, providing another sign of movement, however meager. Assuming this is leading toward a reveal, the timing becomes yet more conspicuous because Summer Game Fest is happening at the moment, and developer ArenaNet's got something to unveil during the main showcase.

A glance through the Summer Game Fest 2026 schedule doesn't yield many other places where Guild Wars 3 may appear, until you get toward the end. The PC Gaming Show, on June 7. Could we see it there, either? Possible, if it's not part of the central event.

Players are taking this all in stride. "Cautiously optimistic. I'll be happy if it happens but I'm not settling myself up for disappointment if it does," says one fan on Reddit. "Are we finally getting a new triple A MMORPG? WE WAITED 10,000 YEARS!" another says.

The latest expansion for Guild Wars 2, Visions of Eternity, arrived in July last year. The central narrative of the RPG actually finished back in 2023, as part of the End of Dragons expansion, setting the stage for another installment. Keep all expectations in check, but we might be learning more soon.
