The Briefing:
  • Jalisco authorities confirmed 39 people detained — 21 men and 18 women — after a march of approximately 10,000 demanded clean water outside the governor's residence; 59 people total required medical attention, including 28 police officers, two of them seriously injured.
  • Independent testing by the Centro de Justicia para la Paz y el Desarrollo (CEPAD) found heavy metals, fecal coliform bacteria, and a complete absence of chlorination in water samples across at least 320 neighborhoods that have received contaminated tap water since March 2026.
  • Governor Pablo Lemus Navarro has not scheduled formal talks with protest organizers, who are holding firm on four demands: an independent system audit, a public health emergency declaration, firm timelines for restoring safe supply, and criminal accountability for officials who allowed unsafe water to flow for seven consecutive months.
