The "GTA 6" leaks have reached another day, with fresh gameplay footage appearing online despite ongoing legal action by Rockstar Games' parent company, Take-Two Interactive.
The latest clip is reportedly the ninth "GTA 6" gameplay leak released this week under the "CyberLeek" name. It shows Jason, one of the game's protagonists, arriving at a gas station. He later steals a pickup truck from a conspiracy theorist, causing trouble.
The footage also brings back part of a cutscene seen in previous leaks.
New 'GTA 6' Leak Pushes CyberLeek Token
The newest "gas" footage follows the same pattern as earlier CyberLeek releases. The videos promote a cryptocurrency token called CyberLeek.
The persona has also used the leaks to promote an anti-digital future message. Its website and videos continue to push that theme.
According to IGN, a watermark added to the latest footage claims that people are losing the ability to resell products. It also urges viewers to "fight now or never."
The repeated cryptocurrency promotion has also appeared to be another talking point behind the reports. It was speculated that financial incentives are behind the ongoing "GTA 6" leaks.
Take-Two Targets X Accounts
Take-Two is also widening its legal efforts.
The company's lawyers reportedly issued a subpoena to X, formerly Twitter. The request seeks information about three accounts with "CyberLeak" in their names. The move follows legal action involving Microsoft and Discord.
On August 20, Take-Two filed federal DMCA subpoenas seeking information connected to several Discord servers and their users. One server was linked to Australian GTA creator Matthew "Matt" Judge, better known online as DarkViperAU.
Microsoft and Discord Face Legal Requests
Take-Two has also taken action against GitHub.
On August 19, the company issued a DMCA takedown notice involving leaked material reportedly uploaded to a repository.
A federal court in the Southern District of New York granted the Microsoft subpoena on August 21. Xbox Chief Technical Officer Scott Van Vliet later said Microsoft was working with Take-Two and Rockstar to protect creative works and intellectual property.
Discord has also confirmed that it reviews and responds to valid subpoenas involving the DMCA.
'GTA 6' Story Spoilers Become a Bigger Risk
The situation is becoming more serious for fans waiting for "GTA 6."
The leaked material is not limited to unfinished gameplay. Some clips reportedly contain portions of cutscenes. That creates a greater risk of major "GTA 6" story spoilers appearing online before the game's official release.
According to Bloomberg, Rockstar still does not know how the leaks happened or who is responsible. Despite the continuing leaks, the company reportedly has no plans to change its upcoming Netflix reveal.
