After nearly a decade of waiting, we seemingly have some new information regarding GTA 6.
According to Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, sources close to Rockstar claim that GTA 6 will feature a playable Latina protagonist alongside another main character. Both will be bank robbers, and the narrative is apparently heavily influenced by the real-world story of Bonnie and Clyde.
It’ll also likely take place in a fictional version of Miami (perhaps some iteration of Vice City), and the overworld will change over time through updates with more missions and events. Additionally, locations will have more interiors than any previous entry in the series. The report also states that GTA 6‘s codename is “Project Americas” since it was initially going to include North and South American regions, but that aspect was allegedly scrapped.
Remember, all of this is subject to change. While Rockstar is currently focusing on GTA 6 development above all else, the project probably isn’t coming out for several years. Plus, nothing is official until Rockstar announces something.
Bloomberg also claims that GTA 6 is somewhat smaller in scope to reduce the amount of crunch on Rockstar’s development teams. Red Dead Redemption 2, for instance, allegedly had staff working intense overtime hours before launch. However, some employees refuted those reports.
While all of this is exciting, we probably won’t actually see GTA 6 for a long time.
