GTA 6's satire may have less "impact" because reality has gotten so screwed up, says GTA 5 Lester actor

GTA 6.

Grand Theft Auto is a series that's always leaned into its biting satire of America or, at least, a version of America seen through Rockstar Games' wacky, violent, sometimes ridiculously exaggerated lens. But with how ridiculous and screwed up the real world has gotten, will GTA 6's teeth be blunted? A GTA 5 actor certainly thinks that's possible.

When asked if GTA 6 could even work as a satire considering the, urm, general state of the world, the voice behind GTA 5's Lester, Jay Klaitz, said he "wouldn't be surprised if a bit of the impact is taken out of GTA 6's initial landing," per an interview with El Dorado.

"Don't get me wrong. It's still fucking GTA. It's going to be massive. People will lose their shit. It's going to be huge, obviously. But it's a different world to the one 13 years ago when the last one came out. I mean, it's a very different world than it was even a year ago," Klaitz added.

"What seemed so far-fetched and insane just a short while ago now feels like just another day, so maybe GTA 6 can't make that same splash as previous games. That said, I don't know. Maybe that's bullshit. I know there will be plenty of commentary and satire woven into it. There's a lot of the Florida Man stuff and lots of territory like that still to cover."

As Klaitz says, "what we see happening in the real world is definitely going to make it harder for a GTA game to work those angles." We'll see how it shakes out when GTA 6 launches on Xbox Series X|S and PS5 in November.

Former GTA 6 artist also "can't wait" for Trailer 3, but warns the final game won't be exactly like what you see: "That view is getting madly polished"
