GTA 6 is facing fresh scrutiny over its upcoming launch in Australia and New Zealand after a separate horror title, Halloween: The Game, was refused classification in both countries ahead of its September 2026 release, raising questions over how Rockstar's blockbuster will be treated by local censors when it arrives on 19 November 2026.
The concerns have not come out of nowhere. Halloween: The Game, a one-versus-four asymmetrical horror project from Illfonic based on the Michael Myers film franchise, was reported by ComicBook to have been banned in Australia and New Zealand over its ESRB classification, specifically for 'the presence of a controlled substance.'
