GTA 6 pre-orders: Here's when they start, where to buy and everything Rockstar announced

Rockstar Games has officially announced that pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) will open on June 25, while also revealing the game's official cover art for the first time. The Take-Two Interactive-owned studio confirmed that players will be able to pre-order the game through digital storefronts and select retail outlets, though pricing and edition details remain under wraps.

The announcement marks another major milestone ahead of GTA 6's scheduled release on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar has also encouraged players to wishlist the title on their console storefronts to receive notifications when pre-orders go live.

Rockstar confirms GTA 6 pre-order date

In a post on X, Rockstar Games said: "Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI will officially begin on June 25 on digital storefronts and at other select retailers."

While the company has confirmed the date, it has not disclosed the exact time pre-orders will become available. Rockstar also chose not to reveal the game's pricing, leaving fans and analysts speculating about its launch cost.

The pricing debate has intensified after Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick recently said that video game prices have not risen significantly over the past decade, fueling expectations that GTA 6 could be priced above the current $70 benchmark for AAA titles. Rockstar, however, has yet to comment on the matter.

How to pre-order GTA 6

Beginning June 25, players can pre-order the digital version of GTA 6 through the PlayStation Store and the Xbox Store. Physical editions are also expected to be available for reservation through participating retailers around the same time.

At launch, GTA 6 will be available exclusively on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar has not announced a release date for a PC version.

What the official cover art reveals

Alongside the pre-order announcement, Rockstar unveiled GTA 6's official cover art, featuring protagonists Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval at the centre. The artwork also showcases several supporting characters, vehicles, weapons and wildlife that reflect the game's Florida-inspired setting of Leonida.

Among the returning faces highlighted are Boobie Ike and veteran bank robber Raul Bautista. The artwork also includes sports cars, speedboats, helicopters, police vehicles and an alligator, offering another glimpse into the world players will explore.

Rockstar shared the artwork through a short teaser video but did not release a new gameplay trailer.

GTA 6 story and release timeline

Set in the fictional state of Leonida, GTA 6 follows Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval, a criminal duo whose lives spiral into a larger conspiracy after a botched bank robbery. Rockstar and parent company Take-Two have indicated that promotional activity for the highly anticipated title will ramp up throughout the summer as the November 19 launch approaches.

The start of pre-orders is also seen as a strong indication that Rockstar remains on track to meet its current release window, following earlier delays that pushed the game beyond its original launch plans.
