GRP takes action against 'dancing home guard' after viral video clip

MUMBAI: After a video clip of a uniformed home guard dancing on a Mumbai local train with a young woman went viral, the Government Railway Police (GRP) said that a default report has been filed.

The force is putting together a plan to ensure such incidents don't happen again.

The incident occurred on December 6 between 10.10pm and 10.15pm in the second-class ladies coach of a Central Railway local.

The home guard was posted for night escorting duty for women's safety. An actress-singer was travelling in the coach with her daughter, Between Chinchpokli and Sandhurst Road stations, the actress-singer started to film when her daughter started to dance in the coach.

After the video was posted online and went viral, the home guard SF Gupta, was asked for an explanation on December 8 and a default report was filed.

"We have often instructed our staff that they should not shoot or pose for videos/photos/ selfies when in uniform and on duty," said a senior official.
