A Brit ended up on a stag party for one after 18 of his mates got stuck in the UK.
The man from Bristol flew out to Lisbon hoping to meet his friends from London in the bustling Portuguese capital.
He was left surprised when he ended up being the only one there with everyone else stranded back home.
Posting on TikTok, the man, who goes by the name Af, discovered that the other members of the stag do decided to cancel last minute after realising their flight back to Luton Airport had been cancelled.
Af, however, had already arrived by this point and decided to push on solo, MyLondon reports.
Flight delays and cancellations have been affecting swathes of UK travellers this summer, with staffing problems at airports leading to long queues and wait times. Passengers have previously complained of flights being cancelled without notice.
On a rant to his 10,000 followers, Af said: “Why always me? So I’ve just arrived out in Lisbon for a stag do. Nineteen of us on the party. Eighteen are flying from London Luton. I flew in on my own from Bristol.
“As I landed, I got a text from the stag party to say that their return flight had been cancelled and they’re no longer coming out. So I’m out here in Lisbon on my own, for a stag do on my own.”
He added: “So tomorrow I’ve got a fun filled packed day. I've got a boat party for one, all you can drink. Then a pub crawl, a bar crawl in the evening, for one, all you can drink.”
He then asks: "So what would you do if you’re out here in Lisbon on your own?... Does anybody know anybody out here in Lisbon?”
In a separate post, Af shared screenshots of a WhatsApp group chat for the stag do, with one of his friends writing: “Just to let everyone know our return flight has been cancelled and they don’t have anything they can transfer us on to.”
A few minutes later, another one of his friends said: “Literally no availability especially for 18 people.”
Another said: “Everything is cancelled or is full.”
Around 20 minutes later, his friends from London start discussing alternative plans, with one suggesting an 18-man apartment in Liverpool. One even mentioned cancelling the hotel in Lisbon, to which Af replied: “Don’t cancel the hotel. I’m here!”
Despite the situation, many TikTok users who responded to the post saw the funny side.
Sharing two laughing emojis, one said: “Sorry mate but this is hilarious.”
Another person suggested that Af gets ‘out and about, make some new friends and invite them to the organised events’. They said: “Record it all. You’ll be a legend.”
Some suggested that Af’s friends may have actually had the whole thing planned all along. One said: “Are you the stag? If so then I can't decide if that's a brilliant or the most horrendous prank ever made.”
“Your mates 100 percent planned this,” said another.
But many shared the belief that Af was better off without his 18 friends. One said: “I wouldn't let a return flight cancellation stop any stag do I was on. They sound like boring farts anyway.”
Another said: “You know those 18 people are such minge bags that they’d lose a holiday because it might be a bit harder to get back. Need new mates.”
