Grimes has moved on from her romance with billionaire Elon Musk and is now dating controversial whistleblower Chelsea Manning, according to reports.
The 33-year-old Canadian pop star shocked fans just this week when it was revealed she and 50-year-old Tesla and SpaceX genius Elon has welcomed a second child together via a surrogate – and following their ‘semi-separation’ last September.
The pair welcomed their daughter, named Exa Dark Sideræl last December and she is the younger sibling to Grimes’ and Elon’s son, X Æ A-Xii, who was born in May 2020 – while Elon has five other children from previous relationships.
The news of Grimes and Elon’s daughter’s arrival was only made public on Thursday after an interview with Vanity Fair was published revealing the news – with the Canadian singer then announcing on Twitter that she and the South African science supremo had split, seemingly for good, since the singer sat down for her interview.
Now reports are suggesting that Grimes is now dating 34-year-old ex-US Army soldier Chelsea who famously leaked classified documents to WikiLeaks in 2010 – leading her to be jailed after pleading guilty to her crimes.
PageSix reports: “They’re getting serious. They U-Hauled it. They’ve been living together in Austin.”
The outlet also claims that Chelsea “still has her apartment in Brooklyn” – hinting that the pair may be spending time together in the Big Apple too.
The Mirror have contacted Grimes’ spokesperson for comment.
Speculation had already arisen that Grimes and Chelsea – who hails from Oklahoma and is also one of America’s most high profile transgender women as well as being a high profile criminal – may have grown close.
The pair have shared tweets that hinted they were spending time together.
In one update, Grimes apologised to fans for failing to appear on a Twitch stream, tweeting that she had not been “in LA” but felt “bad for postponing like 10 times.”
This prompted Chelsea to tweet in response: “vouch.”
While last December, Grimes tweeted: “Celebrity culture is suffocating a f. I’m not quitting music, but def changing my main day job after [recent album] BOOK 1.
"Music industry feels old and tired, reliant on archaic systems.”
Chelsea again replied to this tweet with the word: “vouch” – and Grimes responded to her, tweeting: “Since I seem to be taking ur word as final these days.”
Meanwhile, Grimes took to Twitter in recent days to set the record straight on her romantic status with Elon after the surprise news of their second baby was made public via Vanity Fair.
She wrote: “Me and E have broken up *again* since the writing of this article haha, but he’s my best friend and the love of my life, and my life and art are forever dedicated to The Mission now.”
